Great for breakfast on the go! Golden roasted nuts, seeds and oats are enveloped by flavorful almond butter in these delectably chewy, no-fuss energy bars. Unrefined turbinado sugar adds a deep caramelly undertone. Feel free to use light brown sugar instead. Bars stored at room temperature will be softer than those that are refrigerated.

8 bars | Active Time: 30 minutes | Total Time:1 hour (including chilling)

Ingredients

1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/4 cup slivered almonds

1/4 cup sunflower seeds

1 tablespoon flaxseeds, preferably golden

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

1 cup unsweetened whole-grain puffed cereal (see Note)

1/3 cup currants

1/3 cup chopped dried apricots

1/3 cup chopped golden raisins

1/4 cup creamy almond butter (see Note)

1/4 cup turbinado sugar (see Note)

1/4 cup honey

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/8 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat an 8-inch-square pan with cooking spray.

Spread oats, almonds, sunflower seeds, flaxseeds and sesame seeds on a large, rimmed baking sheet. Bake until the oats are lightly toasted and the nuts are fragrant, shaking the pan halfway through, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a large bowl. Add cereal, currants, apricots and raisins; toss to combine.

Combine almond butter, sugar, honey, vanilla and salt in a small saucepan. Heat over medium-low, stirring frequently, until the mixture bubbles lightly, 2 to 5 minutes.

Immediately pour the almond butter mixture over the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon or spatula until no dry spots remain. Transfer to the prepared pan. Lightly coat your hands with cooking spray and press the mixture down firmly to make an even layer (wait until the mixture cools slightly if necessary). Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes; cut into 8 bars.

2 1/2 Carbohydrate Serving

Exchanges: 1 starch, 1 1/2 other carbohydrate, 2 fat

Tips & Notes

Make Ahead Tip: Store in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 1 month; thaw at room temperature.

Ingredient notes: For this recipe, we like unsweetened puffed multi-grain cereal, such as Kashi’s 7 Whole Grain Puffs.

Almond butter can be found at natural-foods stores and large supermarkets, near the peanut butter.

Turbinado sugar is steam-cleaned raw cane sugar. It’s coarse-grained and light brown in color, with a slight molasses flavor. Find it in the natural-foods section of large supermarkets or at natural-foods stores.

Crab Cake Burgers

These burgers have a true crab flavor that isn’t masked by fillers or strong seasoning. Serve on a bun with tartar sauce or with a lemon-juice-dressed salad of greens, sprouts and sliced peaches. This recipe works best with convenient pasteurized crabmeat, usually found in the refrigerated case near the fish counter. If you prefer lump crabmeat, cut it into small, uniform pieces.

6 servings | Active Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

1 pound crabmeat

1 egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, (see Note)

1/4 cup light mayonnaise

2 tablespoons minced chives

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon celery seed

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

4 dashes hot sauce, such as

1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

2 teaspoons unsalted butter

Preparation

Mix crab, egg, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, chives, mustard, lemon juice, celery seed, onion powder, pepper and hot sauce in a large bowl. Form into 6 patties.

Heat oil and butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until the butter stops foaming. Cook the patties until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side.

Nutrition

Per serving : 163 Calories; 8 g Fat; 2 g Sat; 3 g Mono; 86 mg Cholesterol; 6 g Carbohydrates; 16 g Protein; 0 g Fiber; 350 mg Sodium; 310 mg Potassium

1/2 Carbohydrate Serving

Exchanges: 1/2 starch, 2 very lean meat, 1 fat (mono)

Tips & Notes

Note: Panko breadcrumbs, also known as Japanese breadcrumbs or bread flakes, are coarser in texture than other dried breadcrumbs. They produce a crispy crust and are less likely to become soggy than finely ground breadcrumbs. Look for panko in the Asian food section of large supermarkets and in specialty Asian markets.

Lean & Spicy Taco Meat

A combination of lean ground beef and ultra-lean ground turkey breast makes a less-greasy filling. Bypass taco-seasoning packets in favor of making your own full-flavored filling. Great with Cripsy Taco Shells!

6 servings, about 1/2 cup each | Active Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

8 ounces 93%-lean ground beef

8 ounces 99%-lean ground turkey breast

1/2 cup chopped onion

1 10-ounce can diced tomatoes with green chiles, preferably Rotel brand (see Tip), or 1 1/4 cups petite-diced tomatoes

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle chile, or 1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Preparation

Place beef, turkey and onion in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a colander to drain off fat. Wipe out the pan. Return the meat to the pan and add tomatoes, cumin, ground chipotle (or chili powder) and oregano. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has evaporated, 3 to 6 minutes.

Nutrition

Per serving : 98 Calories; 2 g Fat; 1 g Sat; 1 g Mono; 35 mg Cholesterol; 3 g Carbohydrates; 17 g Protein; 1 g Fiber; 243 mg Sodium; 26 mg Potassium

Exchanges: 3 1/2 very lean meat

Tips & Notes

Make Ahead Tip: Cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day. Reheat just before serving.

Tip: Look for Rotel brand diced tomatoes with green chiles—original or mild, depending on your spice preference—and set the heat level with either ground chipotle chile (adds smoky heat) or chili powder (adds rich chili taste without extra spice).

Iron Man WoW Challenge

The goal of the Iron Man WoW challenge is simple: level from 1 to 85. The catch, however, is that you must accomplish this task without the assistance of talents, class specialization, stat-improved gear, professions, buffs, item enhancements, or other players. And if you die? Well, then it’s back to square one. You check out the rules and get signup information on Blizzards Blog.

Oh this does sound like a fun challenge!! As if I didn’t have enough alts now dang-it!!!

NO, we don’t have any AMPM stores near us. However IF I really wanted a set of these cups I’d head over to Ebay.com where a lot of people have jumped on the opportunity to make a buck!!

Cage, when faced with the photographic evidence, admitted to a similarity but said, “How can I be polite about this?
Of course, that whole “a camera can capture my image” argument is flawed since that original photo is a photo. Right? The eBay seller Jack_Mord, who lays claim to 100% positive feedback and is mainly interested in “Victorian Era postmortem photography,” waxed conspiracist in that listing:

My theory is that he allows himself to age to a certain point … then the actor “Nicolas Cage” will “die”… but in reality, the undead vampire “Nicolas Cage” will have rejuvenated himself and appeared in some other part of the world, young again, and ready to start all over. From time to time somebody might mention to him that he bears a slight resemblance to the young version [of] that dead American actor, whose name they can’t recall, but eventually, those occurrences will stop altogether.

The $1,000,000 price tag apparently wasn’t met, as the listing disappeared (or did it).
